Pump It Up!

Why you should put air in your tires every time you ride

Did you know you should pump your tires to the recommended psi every single time you ride? Especially on road bikes, your tires will deflate a little every day, so it's important to keep them pumped to the recommended pressure. This will help ensure that your bike handles consistently on every ride and will also help prevent pinch flats (where the tube is punctured by the rim).

If you don't know how much pressure to put in your tires, just look at the sidewall (there will be a recommendation from the manufacturer, or at least a maximum inflation pressure).

It's most efficient to pump your tires with a floor pump (you can get one at any bike shop). Your frame pump or mini-pump probably doesn't have a gauge (or at least not an accurate one) and it's much easier to get the correct pressure with a floor pump. I also wouldn't recommend using a gas station pump since they're not designed to be accurate with the high inflation values we use on bikes.

Happy riding!
